An Untitled Poem
Some say that what you see is what you get. Adoptive mom, Vicki Krausz* said it better than that in a poem she allowed us to print in our 25th Anniversary book.
I couldn’t look in your face
And find mine.
I couldn’t see your toes, or ears,
Or smile and note a resemblance.
I couldn’t look at your hair
And remember mine as a child.
In order to love you,
I had to look past all of that,
Directly into your heart.
